In the center of Varny, a 43-year-old woman died on Saturday evening when a tree fell on her. The falling branches of the tree then caused injuries to two rescuers who were sent to the scene of the accident, the police said in a statement. A 65-year-old driver died in the suburbs of the Bulgarian metropolis Sofia, whose car was also struck by lightning. The driver’s wife suffered serious injuries in the incident and was hospitalized.

“Unfavorable weather has caused losses to life. The Bulgarian Meteorological Service has issued warnings of dangerously strong winds for the whole of Eastern Bulgaria on Sunday. He warned that the wind can reach speeds of 100 to 125 kilometers per hour, while waves along the Black Sea coast can reach a height of over five meters. The same pressure also affected the south of Romania, but the Black Sea harbors were closed.

The Romanian meteorologists have also issued the highest weather warnings in the two Black Sea regions lying near the border with Bulgaria. Úrady also sent sms messages to residents, urging them to stay inside. Thousands of households in Romania remained without electricity supply. Firefighters had to save themselves when removing 140 fallen trees and 40 damaged cars.
